By Campus Dean, Mark Shelley Ok, so sometimes the Dean isn’t the smartest guy on campus! For most of April, I had the opportunity to visit many of the community colleges in Arizona, a few in California, and several Northern Arizona University extended campus sites throughout the State, so I could share with them about the great happenings and opportunities occurring at NAU-Yavapai. My travels ranged from Barstow, CA to Snowflake, AZ; from Kingman to Avondale. I met a lot of great people who got really excited about our campus. About the “not so smart” part… I did my due diligence looking for great deals on lodging, etc. I found this very nice motel in Barstow (yep, you heard me, BARSTOW!)—easy to find, just off the freeway, and close to where I needed to be for Barstow College’s Education and Career Fair the next morning. I mapped it on Google, found the place easily, and checked in. What I failed to do is notice that this establishment sits right next to the train tracks that are the main route from Chicago and the Midwest to Los Angeles.
